Cynthia was born and educated in Hong Kong, and started violin lessons at the age of 7. She enrolled in the ¡§Music Talent Development Program¡¨ and studied for 2 years in the Hong Kong Baptist University after she finished her HKCEE exam. From 2007, she studied in the HKAPA under the Head of string department-- Professor Michael Ma. She was awarded the Y.S Scholarship and she is now a Bachelor Of Music Degree 3 student in APA.
Cynthia¡¦s performing experiences include both solo and chamber music. When she was at the Hong Kong Baptist University, she usually played as a soloist at the concerts in Hong Kong and also overseas, including performances in Beijing and London. She also had lessons with different teachers from overseas for example Simon Fisher, Bill van der Sloot from Canada, Wang Hong and Tong Wei Dong from Beijing. Recently, she performs frequently in the department concerts at the HKAPA and also has played in ensembles numerous times in public.
For orchestra training, when she was at the Hong Kong Baptist University, she was the associate concert master in the Baptist Symphony Orchestra and also associate concert master of the Chamber Orchestra. The Chamber orchestra had lots of performances in Beijing and London, performing lots of Baroque music. She is now the member of the Academy Symphony Orchestra. Since 2009, she has been concert master when performing for many concerts. From 2007-2009 the Academy Symphony Orchestra had concerts with the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. The repertoires include Mozart Symphony No.40, Rite of Spring, Alpine Symphony, Firebird and Tristan and Isolde. She is also the member of the HKSAR orchestra. .Last 2 years, she took part in the performance of Puccini¡¦s opera: Madama Butterfly and Massenet¡¦s Manon with the Hong Kong Virtuosi Orchestra. She is now a freelance artist with the Hong Kong Sinfonietta Orchestra.
