BIOGRAPHIES | Chiman Fong


EDUCATION
Chiman was born and educated in Sichuan Provice in Mainland China and immigrated to Hong Kong in 2001. His father is a violinist and mother is a cellist. He was heavily influenced by his family and started violin study at the age of 3, playing his first concert at age 9. After graduating with a Bachelors Degree in Management and a Diploma in Literature of Film and Drama from Wuhan University in 2008, Chiman moved back to Hong Kong.

CONCERT CAREER
In high school and University, Chiman was the Concertmaster of the school orchestras. After moving back to Hong Kong, he was the Associate Principal of Second Violin of The Hong Kong Medical Association Orchestra, which took part in several charity concerts.

COMPETITIONS
In 2001, Chiman won the First Prize of the 5th Youth Violin Competition of China.

PERSONAL INFORMATION
Mostly due to family connections, Chiman had many chances to get lots of help and guidance from famous violinists and professors such as Sheng Zhongguo, Xue Wei and Yang Baozhi. Before taking the National College Entrance Examination, Chiman was accepted to the Central Conservatory of Music and Shanghai Conservatory of Music, but still decided to go to an normal University instead of a specialized school for music.

At present, Chiman is mainly teaching violin in school and at music centers.
